The National Herald ~ Greek-American Candidates: "NEW YORK – Nicole Malliotakis joins the Greek-Americans in the Congress after her apparent big victory in the 11th District in New York. U.S. Representatives Dina Titus, Charlie Christ, Gus Bilirakis, John Sarbanes, and Chris Pappas also prevailed. On the state level, in New York, Senator Michael Gianaris and in Rhode Island Senator Leonidas Raptakis both won in unopposed races, while John-Alexander Sakelos leads in a surprising race for the New York State Assembly. Incumbent New York State Senator James Skoufis is leading in his district, but Senator Andrew Gounardes is currently trailing his Republican opponent with mail-in ballots still being counted." In St Augustine, Florida, regarding community outreach and Greek education - Honoring the founder, Ioannis Giannopoulos, of the 1st Greek school in the America in 1760. The January 22, 2020 event's ceremony facilitated the transfer of the statue of Yiannopoulos to the United States from Tripoli, Greece. Present were Federation of Hellenic-American Educators President Stella Kokolis, Prometheus Association President Meropi Kyriakou, and Rhode Island’s Greek-American State Senator Leonidas Raptakis. "The bust of Ioannis Giannopoulos will travel to St. Augustine, Florida on March 7, 2020. It should be noted that the event is part of the series of events commemorating the 200th anniversary of the Revolution of 1821." TAMPA, FL – January 5, 2020 – Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis attended the AHEPA Epiphany Grand Banquet at Tampa Bay's The Innisbrook Resort. In addition the referring to the Mediterranean's political climate the Greek Prime Minister stressed the importance and key areas of the American Greek community’s practical relationship with Greece.

Present were Mareva Mitsotakis, Stelios Petsas, Haris Lalakos, Alexandra Papadopoulou, Rep. Gus Bilirakis, Rep. Michael Bilirakis, RI State Sen. At the SS Hellas Liberty Museum in Piraeus Port, Greece -
Ambassador Geoffery Pyatt stated “the Greek shipping industry serves as a stabilizing force in the region that is grappling with a range of geostrategic challenges.” State Senator Lou Raptakis spoke about the heroic effort, in which he and others present that night played major roles, to find a Liberty ship. The ship found was 1 of only 3 remaining in the world converted into the museum.
